- Cillian swallowed hard. Did he know? Art was a cousin of the captain, twice removed - and although he was both brash and impetuous at times, many of the other soldiers seemed to have taken a liking to the man, and gravitated towards him. Perhaps it was because unlike so many of the others, he seemed quite comfortable with a blade in his hand. The scar across his cheek came from a duel he had won, or so he had told the others, and he had a certain confidence about him that could not be questioned. He was also a few years older than most of the other men.
- "What do you mean?" Cillian asked cautiously, forcing himself to sound nonchalant even though the worry was rapidly rising within him.
- "You know what I mean," Art said, and his eyes were like daggers boring into Cillian's face. "I don't give a rat's arse if you're gay, but don't lie to us and pretend that little twig is your brother. You're like a giant compared to him, for goodness sake."
